So this week is just about to get WAY away from me, so I thought I would give some thoughts. Then, I realize I have a lot of little comments to make, rather than a major post on any one subject, so I’m breaking out the bullet points.
- First, check back tomorrow as we will be releasing the MattVsMatt Preseason top-25. I teased it a couple weeks back, and it’s time. If you remember, MattJ and I each did a top 25, and we gave the #1 team 25 points, #2 24points, etc. We then added up the points to make the MattVsMatt consensus top-25. I’ll release the list and offer my comments, and I’m sure MattJ will post with his comments as well.
- Yesterday I heard on the radio that the Packers couldn’t take Favre back because they’d moved on and made promises to Aaron Rodgers. Umm… what? If Favre comes back, and he’s the best QB, promise or not he should start.
- Favre was on Greta Van Susteren last night. Really? Favre looked at his options and decided that Fox News at 10pm on a Monday was the best place he could speak out to his fans? I’m sorry if I upset either Packer fans (MattJ) or Favre fans (MattJ), but I think BOTH Favre and the Packers are embarrassing themselves. It seems like people are coming down on one side or the other, but frankly both sides are dopes.
- First Take on ESPN 2 previewed a Jim Tressel visit (he’s got a new book) with the tagline: will the buckeyes bounce back? Doesn’t that make it sound like they were 3-9 last year, missed bowl season, and lost half their starters? The Buckeyes went to the National Championship game for the second year in a row, and have 95% of the core talent back for 2008, which is the season Tressel looked to three years ago as the one where the team should compete for a national title.
- Michigan announced new adidas uniforms. It looks like the home uniforms pretty much stayed the same, but the away jerseys got a yucky yellow streak, and also has some Bo Shriverdecker quote inside the collar. Oh, and the team’s big ten championship years are screened inside the jersey’s shoulder area… Gives those linebackers a reason to really pound the Michiganers into the ground. Adidas is a good fit since Michigan looked like they were trying to play soccer against App. State last year.
- ESPN is going the Blue Ribbon previews for the independents. That means potential 9-10 win Navy and a potentially improving Notre Dame team.
